Champion Shares Its Secrets

Champion Compressors revealed its secrets for manufacturing success to representatives of over 30 manufacturing companies on November 15.

Playing host to the Innovation Insights Program, an initiative of the Victorian Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development, the program that has been developed with the aim of exposing Victorian companies, especially SMEs, to various elements of “Best Practice”.

Champion was selected as a company that has successfully implemented, and has seen real and measurable benefits from advanced manufacturing techniques, continuous improvement programs, lean manufacturing and holistic human resource policies.

Packed to capacity weeks prior to the visit, the program aims to provide an opportunity for companies to learn from the best companies in Victoria - which, in many cases are the best in the world.

Program attendees were taken on a site tour and were provided with the opportunity to speak with managers and employees about their experiences at Champion. Reported highlights from the visitors included discussion on strategy deployment, problem solving models, 5S & visual management in both the factory and offices, business process improvements, skill matrixes, Champion’s quality clinic and environmental, health and safety management system.
