Our Commitment To The Environment

Sullair is committed to the environment. Our focus is on simply turning energy into useful work for our customers with the optimum possible efficiency. In Australia up to 10% of industrial electricity is used in air compression. That's why we have invested in the research and development to bring Variable Speed Drive and Variable Output Compressors to the marketplace - slashing our customer's energy bills and reducing their carbon footprint.

With their reliability and longevity, the energy efficiency of our compressors lowers our customers' energy use. This motivates us to design for the environment, creating products that consume fewer resources and produce fewer emissions during manufacture and operation.

Our AirSwap air-end rebuild centre contributes significantly by re-using and re-employing all the energy invested in the steel housings, metal bearings and sub-components of our air-ends to be usefully used again.

Sullair is a subsidiary of Hamilton Sundstrand (a subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation). UTC makes a substantial contribution to environmental management including:

  • Worldwide 2010 air emission targets met by 2005
  • Energy use has dropped for a cumulative reduction of 35% since 1997
  • $100 million investment in greenhouse gas reduction technolgy including electricity co-generation at Pratt and Whitney
  • two Carrier airconditioning plants achieving Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for existing buildings, a distinction that only nine other facilities in the world have earned

Since our first EH&S goals were established in 1991, United Technologies has improved employee health and safety, significantly reduced hazardous waste and air emissions and reduced the environmental impact of our products.

Our record of performance has positioned UTC to confidently set aggressive new 2015 Sustainability Goals. These new goals include additional challenges that reflect the continuing evolution of our programs. The goals raise the bar across every facet of our operations, from safety to environmental management. They will be measured against the 2006 baseline to show continuity and progress.
