Gearing for Growth

After two years apart, everyone who’s anyone in the Australian Drilling Industry will come together once again at the ADIA Conference in Adelaide this month. Ordinarily an annual event, ADIA will return this year after its pandemic pause with a focus on the theme ‘Gearing for Growth’.

The Australian Drilling Industry Association (ADIA) was established in the mid 1950s after the Australian Diamond Drilling Association was formed. Its members work and are heavily involved in the drilling industry and the association’s purpose is to provide training, resources, conferences and seminars, industry news, advocacy and more for its members and the industry as a whole.

ADIA hold a number of training courses and events each year, one of which is the Drill 2022 Conference and Exhibition. This is a much-anticipated event for many in the industry, providing a great opportunity for education and networking. This year’s conference will be held from the 17th – 19th May 2022 at the Adelaide Convention Centre in Adelaide, South Australia.

In line with this year’s theme, the program features several presenters offering their expertise and key insights on the latest industry trends and issues. The program will cover everything from smart rigs in RC drilling, to growth, efficiency, and safety improvements through improved remote connectivity. As well as how rig technology can improve employee wellbeing, to air core drilling for mineral sands in a unique offshore application. The plenary line sessions will also showcase some interesting topics and engaging speakers. Lee Webb from Imdex Limited, will feature on day one, exploring answers to the question “how critical is downhole navigation speed and accuracy?” and Mick Storch from 4PS Software (The Bullion Group) will discuss infield digital solutions for drilling companies on day two.

As well as attending the conference, some of our key people from Sullair – Nick Shepherd (General Manager Sales and Marketing), Gareth Spencer (Regional Sales Manager WA, SA and NT), Brent Marshall (Regional Sales Manager, Qld), and Quentin Sanders (Lead Hand Air End Technician WA) will be on hand to chat and answer questions at Booth 28.

“The last ADIA conference we attended was in Darwin in September 2020,” explains Gareth Spencer who attended with Brent Marshall. “It’s been a while and it will be good to see everyone at the show,” said Gareth. “We’re looking forward to it, so please come and say hi to us at the Sullair booth”. The Sullair team will be providing information about  our Air end centres and training offerings also during the exhibition. “We’ll be promoting health and safety, technical and operational training – different types of training for drillers and offsiders because there are a lot of new people in the industry,” explains Gareth.

ADIA is a not-for-profit organisation with around 800 members. They represent drilling contractors, suppliers, consultants, and regulators. Drill 2022 will be held from the 17th – 19th May 2022 at the Adelaide Convention Centre in Adelaide, South Australia. More information can be found here and registrations are open until 17th May 2022 for those interested in attending. Please come by and say hi to the Sullair team at Booth 28!
